At Ashtanga Yoga Boston, we are interested in providing a solid foundation for every student’s practice. We are particularly interested in helping beginners start and establish a daily routine. To that end, we periodically offer workshops based on the fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga which include the breath, bandhas (core locks) and drishti (gazing point).

Twice a year — in the spring and in the fall — we offer a weekend “Intro to Ashtanga” workshop for beginning students, which usually includes a month of classes at the school. While this workshop is geared for beginners, experienced practitioners—including those returning to the practice after time off—can also benefit from a deeper exploration of the fundamentals.

2:00-3:30PM – Guided Modified Primary Series for Pregnancy **
3:45-5:00PM – Talk “Ashtanga Yoga – Practice, Pregnancy and Having a Family” – followed by Q&A

**Note: This class and talk are intended for pregnant Ashtanga practitioners, their partners and any Ashtanga practitioner who has recently become a parent or may be considering starting a family. Sharmila will be drawing upon her book Yoga Sadhana for Mothers as well as her own experiences in pregnancy and family life.
